2008 National Appellate Advocacy Competition Results
The ABA Law Student Division National Appellate Advocacy Competition (NAAC) is considered the premier moot court competition in the nation. Competitors participate in a hypothetical appeal to the United States Supreme Court. The competition involves writing a brief and then arguing the case in front of the mock court.
This year, 179 teams from 105 ABA-approved law schools competed in six regional competitions. The National Championship Round was held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Supreme Court of Illinois Chicago Courtroom. The Championship Round judges, who included federal and state appellate court judges had difficulty selecting the winning team. Harvard Law School emerged the victor, with the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law coming in a very close second.
